Absolute Peru travel blog

What a day...I can not even begin to tell you about my day. Contrast, vastness. contrast....I think I am still processing all that I saw. We left Lima to head toward Pisca. The beauty of the desert on the left followed by the mountains with the Pacific coast on the right. The contrast between poverty and wealth. Between garbage and beauty. I can not even express all that is saw. The shanty houses that lined the desert, basically boxes, some brick in which people live. The people on my bus, some slept, some read and others like me just stared out the window. It feels so surreal. I can not even believe I am here. We were basically dropped off on the side of the road... and got in this little bus. I was sitting on a fold out seat in the middle. This city of Pisco was obviously devastated by the earthquake. Lots of ruble. I was a bit worried about this place but the people are lovely. Saw the sunset over the Pacific. Pisco is also a fishing village. We had an amazing supper. I had fresh seafood with rice. It was amazing. It was a guy´s birthday in my group and they brought out this cake ad we all sang happy birthday. This place I could never imagine in a million tears that I would be here. It is crazy. tomorrow is a big day Ballestas Islands, sand boarding and dune buggies and ending up in Nazca. I may not be able to give an update for a few days, we will see. Totally amazing journey today. Lots of emotions and feelings of gratitude for being born into the privilege of being Canadian.
