Spent the wseekend at Diamond Jack's RV Resort and Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana. We have been here before and I forgot how loud and often the trains go by. Not the most restful park we have ever been too. And quite a change from the quiet and remoteness of the Corps parks we had been staying at in Arkansas.
We tried our luck at the casino several nights and walked away with our shirts, but not much else. Sue ended up $25 to the good and Ed was out $20. I also forgot how smoky the casinos can be and now we have to air everything out.
We made a visit to what is called The Broadwalk right on the Red River in Boosier City. It is a very large shopping area with a combination of outlet stores and regular stores. It is set up like a small city unto itself and was all decorated up for the holidays. When we pulled into the Bass Pro Shop we thought maybe they were giving something away as there were so many cars and people everywhere. They were even parking in the nearby fields as all the parking spots were taken. We asked one of the clerks when we got inside what was going on and he said "just a typical Saturday." Guess the economy isn't doing so badly in Shreveport. Although I must say even though there were a lot of people out and about in the shops, I saw a lot of "shopping" and not a lot of "buying." We went into a Farmers Almanac store and looked around. First time I had ever seen that particular retail store. Had lots of neat stuff in it.
Our jacks are not working so will see if we can find a repair facility when we are in Austin. It's always something, isn't it!
