Absolute Peru travel blog

Well I woke up this morning feeling rested and ready to take on the day. I decided to venture out. I spent most of the day walking around Miraflores a district of Lima. My first stop was a beautiful Miraflores Catholic Church . I had brunch at a little cafe and a great cappuccino. I have encountered very few English speaking people. I ripped the dictionary pages from my travel book to help me. My goal was to travel toward the Pacific. It was beautiful. I was at the top of a cliff. I actually could not get to the water because I was at the top. I went to a few shops and bought my first alpaca scarf. I love it!! I got asked to go dancing by a Peruvian guy on a bike who drove past me on his bike, turned around and came back to see if he could help me cross the street. Then he asked if I was single( I played dumb) and pretended I did not understand, he then asked me to a dance tonight. I thank him and kept going... I went to another restaurant for supper and had some seafood, soup, rice. I really had no idea what I was eating. Dessert was good, lots of fresh fruit, and chocolate brownie. I am taking a night tour with a guide tonight of fountains in Peru.I hope to get some great pictures. My group meets tomorrow night at 700 so I am looking forward to meeting my fellow travellers. The day was good, relaxing. The night tour was great. We went to a park with many beautiful water fountains and a water show. My favorite was the Magical Fountain and The Labyrinth of Dreams. It was a crazy park. My tour guide carried a flag so we would not loose her in the crowds. Met a nice couple from Argentina who spoke French to me.It was great to have a conversation!! I was the only English speaking person on the tour. The guide was great! We then went on a crazy driving tour of Lima at night. We ended up on the steps of the Lima Cathedral. Truly a beautiful square. Lots of history, European architecture.I will never again complain about Calgary traffic. Truly insane. Tomorrow I am doing a city tour bright and early in the morning. My trip list is also posted here in the hotel foyer. There are 16 of us and 1 other Canadian. Everyone else is either from Australia or New Zealand. I am the second oldest on the trip. Looking forward to meeting everyone. i think I will be ready to leave Lima on Sunday. Loved teh quiet waterfront. The city is too crazy for me. But still fun to visit.
