The Tales of the Two Sombrebros! travel blog

It wasn't hard to find our way from the metro to what turned out to be the worlds largest bullfighting stadium. We did it local style with tickets in the sunny section and ice-cream in hand!! Hmmm tasty! So we thought the bulls were the main attraction but turns out we were a pretty big attraction ourselves. Copious amounts of tequila were offered to us as well as some fun Spanglish conversations. Turns out bullfighting is a bit more complicated than running around shouting ole and waving a red cloth, what a myth it is not red after all, luckily we had a friendly local Dante who turned into our guide and was an expert in bullfighting knowledge! The atmosphere was incredible with shouts and whistles from the crowd, turns out the crowd is quite influential in determining who triumphs, apparently not a winner as we had to be reminded a couple of times, sorry! Don't think we will be bullfighters ourselves seem to need a lot of ballet skills, Caroline you should take it up! With 6 bulls defeated there was much excitement when a feisty bull managed to leap over the wall surrounding the ring...some of the crowd definitely got a close encounter lucky we were sitting so high up! It was a brilliant Mexican experience and tradition but Anna was a little sad for the bulls.

Adios Mexico! Hopefully we will return someday to finish exploring!! Vamonos a nuevo zealandes :-)
