Foote's Great Adventure travel blog

John spent last week in Chicago, Atlanta, OK (briefly) and overnight in TX. First part business, second part picking up our new truck. He then spent 23 hours straight on the road driving back to us here, near Quakerstown.

Everyone is sleeping late - except me. Seems I have some stupid internal clock that wakes me at about 5:15 - undoubtedly programmed by the cat(s). Oh, wait, that would now be FOUR am - drat cat! Sometimes I can go back to sleep, well usually I can. Sometimes I stay up. Not that I'm super productive, mind you.

Yesterday we spent in NJ - went back to our beloved church LCPC (Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church) and our usual contemporary service. Then, lunch with Nana and Aunt Joyce at the stirling Diner. Not necessrily our favorite spot, but not a bad one, and good for the money. Then dropped Nana back home, Laura at Emilia's for a short playdate, and then boys and we went to visit Aunt Betty.

Aunt Betty is Nana's cousin's wife; she was in the hospital recently with pneumonia, but is much better. We haven't seen her in a number of months. Showed her the new truck.

Then we returned to pick up Laura, showed the Nancy & Carlos our truck, picked up some water and snacks at Shoprite, forgetting John's prescription, then hit the road to return to PA, about an hour-and-a-half drive. This time, due to John's extended trip the day before, I drove. This is/was my first time driving "Big Foote" (the name John's given this behemoth.) It definitely drives like a truck!

We ate (no longer frozen) Honey BBQ chicken and left-over lunch. The kids were just dying to go knock on our neighbor's (Penny & Bob) door and show them our truck. I just wasn't sure they were up for that, even tho' it wasn't really late; and thought the truck would show better in the daylight; and the kids needed to eat dinner and get in bed (not much sleep lately). So instead, David, anyway, was outside ("I'm hot" he said) and watching to see if he could see them thru the windows, and catch their eye. Stalkers!

Ww all went to sleep early and slept well. Especially since: Daisy (aka Miss FeedMeNowYou'reInTheKitchenAnyway) was wanting a late snack, and started clawing the carpet, and I envisioned some wild early morning clawing, and I just wasn't up for that and John needed to sleep -- so I not only stuck her in the crate (where she's taken to pawing and clawing the inside of that, but the crate had been moved to the Tahoe to make room in our aisles, so (poor) Miss Daisy was in the crate in the Tahoe all night. Hence the sleeping well.

We have to get the new truck looked at for a few little minor issues; John has choir Tuesday night and we need to leave the Tahoe in Jersey; we are leaving Wednesday morning for Gettysburg, so have to get all packed up; have to get the car-top carrier moved over from Tahoe to BigFoote, clean out the Tahoe, buy a wand-thingy to clean out the blackwater tank (which seems to be sort of stuck), return the RedBox movie, get medications set up to send to the right place; and clean up the inside of the trailer!

Given my ability to remember things, there is probably more, but for now, I've spent too much time on this!

Now, time for showers for the adults, school for the children -- Ready, set, GO!

(footenote: One of our darling children seems to have a silence allergy (not a better way to phrase this...), and this child has NON_STOP noises coming from their ... self. All three are a little on the giggly tired road, but this one.. noises noises noises giggles noises laughter noises singing giggles .... ARGH! so tiring!!)
