Go East Young(?) Couple travel blog

Following a drive from Oklahoma City, we arrived at the home of a friend in Kingman, Kansas for a couple of days rest in traveling and to have some maintenance done on the rig. It was good to be off of the interstates, as we hit the Kansas line and took some of the local roads rather than taking the toll road. There is something a little more pleasant (for me at least) about traveling through the countryside without a lot of traffic, seeing the landscape a little more close up. Kansas was more farm fields than northern Oklahoma, and I was surprised to find cotton growing there!

We had an enjoyable visit with friends, doing some sightseeing around town, and attending a local "Talk of the Month" event at the VFW hall. The topic was more music than talk today, complete with a trio with banjo, guitar and string bass offering vocal examples of the blues along with some history of this music genre.
