We bought tickets for the local bus to Volterra, a beautiful old walled city up in the Tuscany hills. Lots of narrow cobblestone streets to wander and look in the shops. Some of our group toured the local museum, but it was another sunny day so Robin and I walked to see an ancient Roman ampitheater.

For lunch, we ate in small cafe and had the local vegetable soup with bread and a glass of vino. We enjoyed watching the locals come in to eat so we sat quite a while and then realized the staff was cleaning up and closing so we reluctantly left to walk around some more. The bus did not leave until 5 p.m. so we had lots of time. We arrived back in Florence around 7:30 p.m.

Once again, I am using the hotel office computer so unfortunately, I cannot upload any photos.
