Florida, that is. We woke up to a small invasion of the RV from ants -- and I mean small! Each ant was no bigger than the . in this sentence, but Linda still didn't like it. We had to stop tonight after dinner and buy Ant Motels (or something like that), and then Linda said the ants are so small they can't crawl up to the door! My cousin said not to worry, they are "sugar ants" and don't bite. Small comfort!
We had a very enjoyable visit with my cousin and his wife yesterday, and also at dinner was a second cousin who I haven't seen for probably 50 or more years. He and his wife had retired to live just a couple of towns north of here, so it was a family history and memory evening. Good to catch up after so long.
Today, overall, was good in spite of the ants. We were able to visit Sanibel Island, and the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge there. Many of the trees along the shallow inlets were unfamiliar to us; lots of the birds were also birds not seen around Oregon. I logged several new birds, and Linda was able later to find some shells on Ft. Myers Beach beaches. Then dinner with my cousin and his wife again at the fishing pier at Ft. Myers Beach, and an overall great time. We have decided to stay another day here, and tomorrow I'll try and get to Corkscrew Swamp Wildlife Refuge, for more of that "different world" experience.
