Cruisin the Mediterranean 2010 travel blog

This looks like a more porsperous city. 8 freighters in the bay. I walked into town. First had a turkish coffee with a shop keeper. They like to offer you a drink and don`t expect to be paid for it. It was the same in Istanbul. Bought Bob a shirt. Things are expensive. No central market. Talked to 3 high school girls who spoke some English as it is taught here. Ages were 16, Elif, Birsen and Zeynap. All want to be teachers. They live in a dorm as they come from outside the city. Some older women wear head scarves but not the young ones. Most men smoke. Money is Turkish lira. People look happier here. Bob`s quarantine ends tonite -- 3 days and he is feeling better.Lots of houses have solar panels. The ships anchor got caught on something down below. There have been a lot of vessels scuttled here to plug the bay. It took about one half an hour to get free.
