Our dinner being dug up out of the sand

Toasting marshmallows round the fire

Bedouin entertainment

Arriving at our camp we made ourselves comfortable on matresses outside the tent then watched the sunset over the desert. Back in camp our meal was ready and the boys were busy digging it up out of the sand - onions and potatoes on the top rack, then chicken pieces below. Add to that rice and stewed vegetables and it was a fantastic meal. Another Intrepid group was also there in another part of the camp so we all got together for the meal and marshmallow toasting afterwards. Then we settled down to watch some entertainment put on by the Bedouin camp staff - no idea what they were saying but they seemed to enjoy themselves.

The night was still young but we were all ready for bed around 8.30 so it was back to our side of the camp to sleep on mattresses under the stars. It was an amazing experience, so many stars up there and when the moon came up it was as bright as day.

With such an early bedtime we were all up bright and early for the trip back to Rum Village and our bus trip to Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world.
