Old Louisiana State Capital Building

The Rotunda Inside

Grand Staircase

After another slow start this morning, it was only in the seventies so we blame it on the cold, we decided to head into downtown Baton Rouge and check out the sites. Our first stop was the Old Louisiana State Capital Building. We spent a couple of hours wandering around this great old building, very impressed with the Rotunda! Hughie Long, Louisiana's infamous governor from the late 1920's, ruled from this building, and there is a huge section of the museum set aside for him and his work. We then cruised past the new capital building and the LSU Campus. From here we headed back to Denham Springs and Bruett's Cajun Cafe, where I had shrimp etouffe, FANTASTIC!! so good we stopped at a grocery store on the way back to the trailer and grabbed some Etouffee Mix! spent the remainder of the afternoon preparing to hit the road for Houston and points west in the morning.
