Anne-Margaret in Europe travel blog

Have made it to another point in Sicily and have already had a good wander this afternoon. Another beautiful day! Met a nice couple from England on the train (she originally from Croatia) and then introduced myself to some Aussies at the train station and we have ended up staying at the same hotel.

My 'window' looks out onto the stairwell - so we wont be getting many photos of that view! However it is only 20 euros a night (he originally wanted 30) so no complaints from me. Is lovely and clean also. I was 5 nights in a row in my tent in Sardinia and am rapidly getting over the thrill of being in a tent. However, it has been great to have and will get more use along the way as saves me the stress of not being able to find accommodation (otherwise there is no point carrying an extra 2.6 kilos with me for this time is there!!!).

Had a nice time in Palermo - but was a fairly lazy visit there - not too much sight seeing to be had I'm afraid - with the main exception being the Duomo in Monreale (a village near Palermo) - the mosiacs being absolutely stunning giving the interior a golden glow. I find it tiring being out amongst the constant traffic where you risk life and limb crossing the road.

I did excitingly visit the supermarket there - and can't believe how excited I was to eat a fresh salad from there! Am eating far more fruit than I ever had in an effort to make up for the fact my vegetable count is way down!

Thats about it for now.
