My Nw Summer Outfit

2nd Summer Outfit - just couldn't resist

October 19th and day 2 of our New Orleans trip. We all decided to take the campground bus to one of the trolley location and ride the trolley into the city. We picked the bus up at the campground store and we off for our first adventure. Along the route the bus driver continually pointed sites of interest to ensure we were getting the most of our trip and experience.

We were a little lost in the beginning but quickly got our bearings after asking a few questions and we on a trolley in no time headed down town. I captured a picture of the trolley as it headed toward us and couldn't resist one inside even though it was dark. The experience reminded me of my summers in Mass. with my cousins. We had to transfer to a city bus due to construction then back to another trolley and without the assistance of a trolley driver headed in our direction I'm sure it would have been a little more difficult. With her help it was a snap and we were in New Orleans proper quickly.

We went into Herrod's for a quick pit stop and then enter the New Orleans River Walk. We strolled casually enjoying the sights until we got to the Paddle Boat area where we purchased our tickets for the ride.

The paddle boat ride was on the Natchez, an indian name, and was the only steam powered boat on the river. The other paddle boats were diesel powered. The ride was interesting and educational. We saw naval vessels called 'Roll on Roll off' for the type of items the transport alongf with many barges carrying a variety of products. We also learned that New Orleans harbar is the busiest in the world, with a European harbor 2nd and New York 3rd. It also has waterways to the East and West giving entry from all locations.

After our boat ride we strolled the French Quarter taking pictures of a Creole style painted house and a regular French Quarter home. We visited many shops and I just couldn't resist purchasing two new summer outfits. Ray was thrilled :-)
