|We woke up at 7.00 and took the bus to the airport. After some rearranging, we got our car and headed north. We went through Porto Torres where all the boats to Corsika leave, then we headed east along the coast. Our first stop was in Castelsardo, a beautiful town in the middle of a cliff by the ocean, really spectacular. We continued along the northern coast and passed by many small towns but landed in St Teresa Gallura, an old quaint town, with beautiful views and its beach Rena Bianca. We had pasta pomodoro there before we continued to Palau. In Palau we took the ferry (€36) over to La Maddalena. La Maddalena is a beautiful island with amazing rock formations made by the wind. We went over the bridge to Caprera. The scenic route on the island was stunning and before we left the islands we had a cafe latte in the harbor. Back on the mainland we went to Porto Cervo, beginning of Costa Smeralda, where you can easily see the luxury area begins. Continuing on Costa Smeralda, we went through Romantica and one other small town with luxury houses and hotels. As the evening was getting later we headed towards Olbia and took the highway from there through the central island back to Alghero. On the way we passed by Santissima Trinita di Saccargia, Sardinias most famous Romanesque church from 1112, really amazing looking. The whole day we had heavy winds and clouds so not the perfect day but it was really nice to see the northern part of the island. One conlusion is that speedlimits are not to follow as well as passing on curves with full lines- just step on it and hopefully you make it. Back at the hotel we went out for 1/2 m pizza, then back home for a night cap and some much needed rest. Another beautiful day.
