On the way to Chartres, the next day we found out that October 12th was a National strike day for something? We were caught in two strike marches, one in a small town and the other in Chartres. We were able to get around the delays, otherwise we may still be there. The Cathedral in Chartres was built extremely large to accommodate pilgrims during the 12th century. The original church was built in the 4th century and the current was completed with its famous stained-glass windows around year 1230.
