Raining today...we debated whether or not to go to Paranagua tomorrow which is supposed to have a cool train trip to/from Curitiba - which is Brazil's highest state capital by the way at 900 + mtrs. But the weather remains very dismal so instead we hopped a city bus to the S. end of the island, a place called Pantano do Sur on the bus heading anyway. See pics. We were going to change to a cheaper hotel/hostel as well but the weather made that plan very difficult w/o spending way too much time/effort. This Hostel, Albergue da Juventude Ilha de Catarina, was in the LP at $12 US/nite for dorm bed but now it is up to $18 US, mainly due to the crappy state of the US dollar!

We purchased our tickets to go to Curitiba tomor (45r = $27 US, 4-5 hrs) and also our tickets to Iguazu Falls on Sat. so we could get good seats. Walked around Florianopolis and very much enjoyed their plaza, really one of the nicest ones we've see thus the pics.
