Finally in South Dakota! Didn't realize it was so flat with corn and soybean fields as far as you can see but it is very clean, no trash along the highways or in the ditches. Went through Sioux Falls onto 90 west. Fields and more fields as far as you can see this is definitely farm country! Stopped in Mitchell SD to visit the Corn Palace. It was pretty cool. Everything was covered inside and out with pictures made from ears of corn and husks. They said the designs changed every year and the inside of the corn palace is actually a sports arena

We got pictures and then headed for the nearest Wal-Mart parking lot. We were the first RV there and as the evening wore on many more RVs came in. About 13 of them. We were about the last RV to leave the lot Friday morning. Headed to Rapid City nothing out here just fields and fields. Saw many sunflower fields that went as far as you could see and lots and lots of cattle. Not a lot of trees. We were near Vivian SD.

Got to the Badlands National Park Friday afternoon and entered the northeast entrance. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Temperature was 88 degrees. As far as you can see there are hills (more like mountains) that look like someone has sculpted each one. Some look like castles that are pointed on the top and a rock right on top that looks like someone set it there. It was amazing, I took so many pics that I ran my batteries down. Stayed at the Cedar Pass Campgrounds. The main campground was closed for the winter. This is considered winter there. The smaller campground you had to park on the road with no hookups. There was everything from small pup tents, people in vans and pop up campers to a couple of large RVs like ours. Very strong winds came up later in the afternoon and they reminded me of the blizzard winds we have in the winter in Iowa. It blew the dust so much that you couldn't see. Then they just stopped and it was calm and started to rain.It rained all night and all day Saturday. Some of the Tent campers left but more came in. The Hosts of the campgrounds even left as their season was over. We still rode the scenic route through the Badlands in the rain and even in the rain it was beautiful.

The colors were amazing! Reds, green, yellow and coral hills. They almost looked striped. we went about 35 miles and into the town of Wall. We saw about 150 miles of advertisements for Wall Drug. They said it had everything and it did. It was a definite tourist trap. It actually was a mall only dressed up to look rustic and like it was back in the cowboy days. I bought $12.00 worth of fudge and some post cards and we left and went back to the RV. Stayed there again but left Sunday morning. When we left we went the scenic route again it was a beautiful day and we got some awesome pictures.
