SAM Excursion Train- Veterans Memorial State Park-Cordele, Ga
Oct 4, 2010
Hello to all,
Chris, Toby and I have arrived here in Cordele, Georgia to do volunteer work in the park located about 10 miles from Cordele. The trip down was sweet, with no problems to report. The "Beast" did a good job pulling the Cougar down I-75. We had a nice Northerly tail wind and that helped us average a nice 14.0 MPG.
We arrived about 5PM and the camp set-up went well. The satellite was up and running by 8PM. The name of the park is the Veteran's Memorial State Park. We will specifically be working the Excursion Train as hosts.
We volunteered here back in March and April of 2008. We took plenty of pictures then and we plan to do so this time. You can review that trip here by looking back at the log entries we made back in 2008.
This time we will be working Thomas the Tank Engine specials during this month. I will update the log here on the details of that at a later time.
We will get no time to lazy around, as they have already scheduled a work day for Tuesday to help beautify the place prior to all the kids arriving in a few days for the Thomas the Tank Engine activities.
So, I'll make this entry short and make a longer one later with pictures.
In Dad's memory.....the adventure continues.
