Jay & Gwen's 2010 Adventure travel blog

We left the campground yesterday morning with a short ride to Midway, AR. New area, Ozarks and it was windy up and down roads that did not see a lot of traffic - good thing. So it took awhile and there were times that the RV was straining to reach 25 mph. The southern Missouri and northern Arkansas area is very pretty and the temps have been mild. My niece Gidget was waiting for us to arrive. The RV was bigger than she imagined when she said to park in her driveway. The owner of the trailer park graciously allowed us to park in the middle of the park's "green area". The neighbors of course were very curious about who was in the RV. So we had lots of people walk by or wave as they were driving by. One woman came up and hugged Jay and was so happy to see him. Jay and I are thinking "WOW they are really friendly here in Arkansas". Gidget and I are looking at the woman wondering who she is and then the guy who was with her is saying something about our plates. Then she says "Aren't you Tom and Linda?" - no we are Jay and Gwen. Then she said that she thought we were her parents! She was a bit embarrassed! Gidget and I had a great laugh at dinner remembering the looks on Jay's face and her face. Wish I had my camera handy! We never saw the woman again, I think she was hiding. The people are really friendly and I would be happy to visit again. It was an easy trip to Carthage. We stopped at an RV salvage place on the way. We were able to get the refrigerator handles we needed but not the cargo door. Might have to make a trip back. Seems that they used this door for 1 year only. We checked into The Big Barn RV Park. It is a very nice, our site is level and the park seems to be very peaceful. We will be until Saturday when we head out again, heading toward Tulsa. Back soon.
