This morning Mary was feeling better so we decided to take a short hike and headed to the trail head of the Appalachian Trail about 2 miles from our campground in Shelburne, New Hampshire. We had a nice hike along Rattle Creek with no sounds except the quite sounds of the woods and the rushing sound of the creek as it passed us by. We took some pictures and never saw another person until we came back to the trail head parking lot. There a car pulled up just as we got back to the clearing the two guys in the car spotted me and asked if they could take a few pictures. They are photographers and said they never saw such a neat looking jacket with all the patches of the National Parks I’ve been to, after we visit a park and buy an embroidered patch Mary sews them on for me. Anyway they are attending the Art Institute of Boston and were on assignment in New Hampshire when they saw me coming out of the woods and thought I, well maybe, my jacket would be a good subject for their project. They took some pictures and we took off to the campground to hook up the trailer and head for Vermont.
We arrived at our campground about 8 miles east of Montpelier the capitol of Vermont in the early afternoon. We unhooked the trailer got into the truck and headed in to Waterbury, VT for a factory tour of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream factory, and like a tour of a brewery this tour comes complete with a tasting! We also visited their flavor graveyard with tombstones for every flavor they have retired.
We’ll be here in Vermont for a couple of days before heading south to New York.
