September 20th - Freeport, Maine
T’was a lovely day, sunny & pleasant, warm enough for me to go without a jacket & warm enough for Allan to only need one layer of fleece! You have heard of “shop til you drop”. Well, we shopped till I dropped! This is not an outlet mall. It is a street that had L.L. Bean situated here, the shoppers attracted other high end stores to open outlets. So, it is a quaint New England street with side streets & more stores/shops. The McDonalds is not to be believed. I took a picture of the building 2 yrs ago when we were here. Except for one little sign you would never know it is a McD’s.
L.L. Bean has actually 5 stores in this area. The main retail store is beyond huge…. Then there are 4 other large stores. The Outlet Store; The Home Store; The Bike, Ski & Canoe Store; The Hunting & Fishing Store; The individual departments in the main retail store could be separate stores themselves they are so large. Needless to say, we were quite productive & left lots of scrip there!!!! and no way did we see even half of the stores located here.
Allan finally got his long awaited good pizza! Day is done!
September 21st – Bethlehem, New Hampshire
On the road again…. La la la…. But before we could leave Freeport we had to go back to L.L. Bean to buy a new leash for Bailey because his broke as we were packing up! Just a slight delay & then we had a beautiful ride across Maine into New Hampshire then north into the White Mountains. Definitely can see the trees changing color. We are in Bethlehem, New Hampshire which is a major summer resort & winter ski area. Magnificent old style classic lodges/hotels/resorts. Cute villages & lots of restaurants. Could hang here for quite a while! Brenda R. says she spent much time here as a kid during summers while growing up in Boston.
Rv park is very close to the town/village. RV park is buried in the woods. We have good wifi & cell but too many trees for satellite & they do not have cable. No biggy!
Hello to all our buddies going to Pismo Beach this week! & Happy Sukkot to all!
