After the races I surfed to shore with a South African sailor. Then we de-rigged the boats and returned them. After that I finally hit the shower at 6:00. I was really tired. Then we went to the awards ceremony, where I sat with Deirdre, a sailor from Vancouver who had her 71st birthday at the regatta, and her brother who came over from Ireland to see her. Deirdre is a great inspiration to everybody here. Also at our table were my Scottish friend, Peter, who was on top of the worlds after posting a remarkable 4th place finish in the big winds of the last day; and three Ugandans, who sail their Lasers just south of Kampala on Lake Victoria. One of them, Kim, is a Grand Master (55+) and he and I were very competitive in the races. They were great fun and have invited Peter and me to come to their country for a combo Laser regatta and safari. A group of Grand Master sailors from Canada, South Africa, Britain, Uganda, Australia and USA have agreed to meet again at the 2011 Worlds in San Francisco next August.

Now I am very tired, stiff, and am going to sleep.
