Trip to Ms Wilkes for Lunch

Last trip to Ocean before we leave

Sept 10 2010

We have arrived in Waynesville No. Carolina. We are about 40 miles west of Ashville. We have come up from the sea level to about 3000 feet. The weather shows it as well. Much cooler and not as much humidity. A little cloudy today but we are going sight seeing in the smoky mountains and visit the smoky mountain national park.

Some facts: we are getting about 11 miles per gallon while pulling the trailer.

Cost of gas is averaging about $2.89 and most of the time we put it on the credit card, but we can save 6 cents a gallon if we pay cash. Health wise, not too much change from when we left, Sharon is bothered by her hip and leg some, but we have been doing more walking and going, than at home. We seem to do a lot of sight seeing and visiting historic places as well as walking the shops. Before we left Georgia we went to South Carolina and looked around and went to the beach for the last time, as we are now heading inland from now on. We did go to a country restaurant in down town Savannah and had a family style lunch, Ver good and a lot of food. Ms. Wilkes, I need to get the pictures off the phone to get them on this journel. As of this stop we have traveled about 4469 miles.

We drove across South Carolina and the hole trip the hiway was lined with trees, that is all we saw of the state the entire way. Nice drive but seemed like we were in a tunnel of trees. Ernie will be joining us on Friday late and we will be going on a day trip to Gatlinburg to look around and then we are off to Kentucky on Sunday for the Bluegrass festival.

Today is Sharon’s birthday and we are going to take a drive today and go to dinner tonight. I got her a nice necklace and earrings with Dolphins at the Lighthouse in Tybee.

Ernie has arrived and we took a drive to Gatlinburg. What a nice place, if you like to walk around small shops and plenty of eateries. It has rained some, but that has not stopped us. We are leaving today, to go to Kentucky. Should arrive there this after noon.
