The late sunset over Agios Gordios

Are you getting the idea?

We had to make a stop in the heart of Corfu town today so that Dan could make a new key for the scooter, but it ended up being a nice little trip. I bought some grilled corn on the cob from a homely looking street vendor and it was some kind of wonderful. After asking about 6 people, we finally found the key place and 30 seconds later our errand was complete. That left plenty of time to walk the streets and snoop around. As we got hungry a quaint little bakery caught our eye. Soon after we stuffed our faces with baked ham and cheese thingies, mini pizzas and sugar dipped donuts – all for 2.70 euros. Unreal.

We had big plans to drive all the way up north to check out the old monasteries but as we got about halfway, it looked like we were driving into an f’ing tornado and we were forced to turn back. It’s a good thing we did cause the last 3 minutes home we got straight up pelted. As we passed the intersection by the bus stop, Dan decided to lock up his back break and slide around for a good 10 feet as the bystanders watched without so much as a gasp of concern. Cold, annoyed and a little sleepy, we decided to make it a Blockbuster afternoon and watch Crazy Heart on Dan’s computer. I know, I know, “but what about snacks?” Don’t worry. Before we started, we stormed the mini mart with the focus and determination of two teenagers with THC pulsing through their veins. We were, of course, not high in the slightest, but the store had an incredible selection of treats at rock bottom prices. I, for one, was helpless against its power.

After the movie, I took a solo tour to a Glyfada beach, a place we had only seen from the cliff tops when we took a wrong turn a couple days earlier. The sunset at this place was something out of “Kelly’s best sunsets” album for shizzy. As I sat on a hammock-like beach chair and watched the magic happen, time slowed down and all my cares melted into the blue webbing beneath me. I took some pictures to savor the flavor and a few more on the drive home. By the time I pulled up to the pink palace, a sliver of the moon sat directly above the endless blue ocean in the center of an orange and yellow sky. Natural wonders. Not too shabby.
