Damn Tourists Sep 9, 2010

Today I did not have any classes so I slept in and did nothing in the morning. Had a lazy breakfast in my living room while reading my book "Eat, Pray, Love" Which is perfect for where I am and what I am doing right now. Then I went down to the market right next door to our apartment. I found a very cute dress for 5 euro so I snatched it up. It came with an adorable belt too! I went for a walk around my neighborhood and found some food places that looked a little more legit then the place we ate last night. Im willing to try them out! Our neighborhood is actually very pretty and the main street has a lot of shops and food places. Then I went on a quiest to find the best Gelato place in Roma. I mostly just wandered in the correct direction and stubbled upon a few other things on my way. I walked by the Trevi Fountain again and had to fight through all the tourist crowds... It is quite annoing to have all the tourists around when your on a mission to get somewhere, thats why I try to avoid those areas. Damn tourists!! haha. But I do admit that the Fountain is beautiful... I walked along side streets past small restraunts and small shops. I wasnt quite shure where I was so I threw on my sweater to cover my sholders and headed into a church. I sat down by the alter and soaked in the silence. Then I grabbed my rome book and oriented myself and headed back out to the streets. Wandering around more took me to the pantheon which is a huge and beautiful structure. I strolled around inside and outside meandering through the huge crowds of tourists and then made my way to the gelateria della palma near the pantheon that aparently has the best gelato in rome. there were about 100 different flavors and I picked nutella which was very delicious! I walked around and ended up finishing it and the base of an obelisk in Piazza Montecitorio and later walked to the colonna di Marco Aurelio which is very cool (I have pics). Then I had to find my way back to school where We had a wine tasting class. I learned a lot about wine tasting but still dont like wine. I keep trying various types of wine but just cannot get into it. Now we are just chilling in the house until we meet up at 945 to catch the bus to the Amalfi Coast! Hopefully it is a fun weekend! Loveas!
