On the Road Again travel blog

It was sad leaving Idaho...The last day was a trip to "Craters of the Moon". No, I didn't go to the moon, although I would if I could. This was another of my earth science treks to the lava fields. These lava flows are relatively new, only 2000 years old, and contained lots of pahoehoe and aa (pa-hoy-hoy and ah-ah). Those are just fun words for smooth, rippled lava and jagged, crispy lava(look them up for more scientific definitions). There were lots of cinder cones and lava tubes and caves and some great hiking. Of course, I did it all on my own, mom sat in the car....(yeah)...and I enjoyed treking through the lava fields relatively deserted and reveled in the beauty of mother earth. On Thursday we set off for Utah...Now I know a lot of my friends are from or have family from Utah, but, really...Northern Utah is a bore...We overnighted in Provo, and went to see Bridal Veil Falls, which was lovely and cool and the dogs had a lot of fun in the water. Nothing else to really see or do...Today we left civilization and heading through Price Canyon--lovely--towards Moab...do you say it as "Mobe" or "Mo-Ab"? Not sure yet. Here I will attempt to visit all the arches in Arches National Park and a few trails in Canyonlands National Park....by myself...Sad to say, though, that this may be my last stop before heading home. My "companion" has become a "terror" and wishes to return to the heat and her tv...so, I will comply as she makes it a little unbearable otherwise...I'll be posting pictures on facebook later....it's much easier to put them there then here...so adios for now....
