We have been busy eating our way through Lancaster County for the past week. We did the last of it today. Everywhere we turned around there was food of some sort. Pretzels, cheese, produce stands, canning companies (with samples of everything), meat markets, and the list goes on & on. We had to call a halt to it sometime.
While we were here we took a tour of Kreider Dairy farm. They milk the cows on a carousel that hold 54 cows at a time. They get on & off by themselves. They count for 20% of their business. They have 1400 cows & 1000 babies. There are between 3 & 6 born every day. All of the time, money and work that goes into farming is amazing. The equipment alone runs millions of dollars. They also have over 4 million chickens which supply eggs which is 80% of their business.
We also toured a cheese factory, a creamery which made ice cream, pretzel factory, and a canning company (several times). We also went to a Wolf Sanctuary who has rescued over 40 wolfs, a mini horse farm and a deer farm. The outlet mall has QVC, which I didn't find anything at and Pepperidge Farm store with great prices among other stores.
Tomorrow we are going to have a down day just relaxing getting ready for the next leg of our trip.
to be continued.....
