We have enjoyed exploring a lot of small towns and communities in Maine. We have visited everything from covered bridges to huge lakes. The Low's Bridge in Guilford-Sangerville was awesome. This bridge, built in 1857, was washed away by the flood of April 1, 1987. A modern covered bridge, patterned after the original, was built on the original abutments in 1990. The bridge has a clear span of 120 feet over the Piscataquis River.

We enjoyed driving around Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine. We stopped at Lily Bay State Park and had our picnic lunch on a bench while watching people swim. It is hard to believe people are swimming when it's in the 50's and Jerry and I were getting chilly, needing a jacket. :-) The people in this area are tough.

We visiting one town called Kokadjo. It had a sign saying ...population.. "not many". A lot of the places remind us of the wilderness of Alaska. We are in love with this state. I have been a bit lazy about doing updates to the site. I am adding pictures from all the great places we have visited. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
