the perfect place to spend a peaceful night

Tuesday afternoon:

At Mile 54 we turned off the Alaskan Highway and continued our journey on highway 29, a Scenic Route that winds through the Peace River Valley. The road turned north before descending into the valley, providing us with another milestone. At 56 degrees and 18.6 minutes north latitude this is the farthest north our RV has ever been, and it is the farthest north we will get on this trip.

The Peace River Valley was all the reward we needed for coming here, serene and beautiful the entire 80 kilometers to the campground. As an added bonus we got to see another black bear! It loped across the road in front of us, then slowed down and walked sedately into the woods. At the campground we told the owner we’d seen a black bear a few miles up the road and she muttered, “Well he can just stay there!” Obviously not a fan.

Our campsite was right on the river and it was everything you want a campsite to be, dark and quiet and as peaceful as the Peace River itself.
