Ouray - Main Street

We turn here to our campground

We departed Sunshine NF Park around 11am. We followed Hwy 145 north towards Placerville through red canyons and followed the San Miguel River. We then connected with Hwy 62 which wound us up and over and through wide open pasture land. We enjoyed the view of Mt. Sneffels, another 14er, and the San Juan mountain range in the distance. It dropped into the little town of Ridgway that intersects with Hwy 550 to Ouray. We followed the Uncompahgre River, driving thru more farm land and seeing the mountains of Ouray in the distance. They say Ouray is the "Switzerland of America". The scenery was so beautiful that it made short time of the 46 miles trip.

We are staying at 4J+1+1 RV Park a couple blocks off of Main Street. It is $30 a night with full hook ups (tight side by sides). There is a laundromat just outside of the entrance of the park so I can get caught up on laundry. I'm looking forward to having electricity for a couple of days though. I want to use the convection oven and crock pot to cook up some meals as we will be boondocking again soon.

It looks like there is a lot of interesting things to see and do in this quaint old mining town. We look forward to exploring and sharing with you...stay tuned!
