A lazy start. Left the campground about 10:30 AM. Marilyn is having a hard time with the moose spotting duties. On a stretch of highway with one on the largest moose populations on the island and she didn't see one. Zero! Zilch! Time for some remedial work. She's still my favourite! Arrived in St. John's at Pippy Park Campground at 12:30 PM. Set up and had lunch. Great sites. Private and fairly level. Pippy Park is an urban area of 1300 acres and is only about a 30 minute walk from downtown. It has all sorts of trails for hiking and cross country skiing. After lunch we headed downtown. St. John's is very confusing and very hilly. Found the Tourist Info Centre and they were very helpful. Got maps of downtown and surrounding area as well as transit info. We like to take the bus. Reasonable cost, no stress and no parking headaches, which are huge in downtown St. John's. We'll drive to Memorial University which is close, park there and take the bus downtown. While there we decided to visit the infamous George Street. It's the entertainment centre for downtown as almost every building is a pub, bar or restaurant. Usually a pub or bar. Interesting but we weren't all that impressed. Visited a pub and all they had on tap was one local beer. We tried it and it was good but we expected more. We'll go down again at night to see and hear the live music. Found our way home. Very confusing! Great dinner, Skyped with Kris and then to bed. Tomorrow we'll start our exploration of St. John's and The Avalon Peninsula.
