Hi there! We have been enjoying our stay on the West Dolores River. We spend as much time as we can out by the river between the daily thunderstorms we have been experiencing. Some of the storms have been awesome!
The stars at night are like nothing I have seen before. Len and I have been bundling up and getting in the recliners to watch the meteor showers that have been at its peak the last couple of nights. Wish I could take pictures to share. It is very moving emotional and spiritually to sit under a night sky like we have had up here. It is amazing how much more you can see without city lights around you.
I have continued to try and catch some great shots of the hummingbirds. We are seeing less of them every day as the temps are dropping into the low 40's at night. They are starting to migrate south. We will miss them.
The chipmunks are running around gathering for hibernation, they are just busy and entertaining. Love watching them. We don't feed them, but they will scurry around our feet.
We have a ongoing battle with the mice. Not good! I don't know if we are winning the battle or not. Stay tuned.
We made the 20 mile trip into Dolores to run some errands. We found a nice surprise in the hardware store...an old fashion ice cream/soda fountain counter. Len was in heaven! They carried Schwann's ice cream. We had the summer's dream...orange sherbet & vanilla ice cream. G'ma's and my favorite...oh so good!
