Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore Summer 2010 travel blog

Sunday,

Our last day at the Honeyman campground so we, the three of us Debi, Heidi, and me, went into town. We drove in to the old town area where a farmers market had a number of booths. We picked up a nice piece of salmon and some veggies to put on the BBQ. We also walked down the street into some tourist shops before stopping for fuel and back to the camp ground. The Dinner was just out of this world and would be moving day tomorrow.

Monday - Moving Day

We packed up and left Florence for Harris campground near Brookings Oregon. The first half of the drive was inland off the coast. Pine trees lined both sides of the road during this part of the trip. We also passed a number of lakes for boating and fishing. Then we headed to the coast to drive along the ocean. As we were getting closer we passed through Gold Beach. As we passed over this long bridge over the Rouge River were small boats filled the inlet like a traffic jam. It must be the salmon running up the river to spawn. Soon we arrived at the campground and set up camp. Before dinner we took a walk to the beach and could just of what the sunset would look like. So we bypassed the campfire tonight for an hour on the beach watching the sun drop into the ocean. We snapped a lot of pictures as the sun lowered into a low wall of fog. But, it was the best we have seen since being on the coast. Today we will head into Brookings to do laundry and hit the Internet at Mc Donald’s. We have two more nights here before heading south to California and the redwoods.

Tuesday, we went into Brookings to do laundry and take a look around. We will also look for a place to dine out today or tomorrow. But, we will have to head back to the campground to spend some time with Heidi. The low clouds ... fog... are hovering over the campground so I am guessing a sunset is going to be traded for a big campfire tonight.

I will try to post and put captions as I can.

I have posted more pictures on the web.
