Aug 7 , Saturday – last night I got a good 8 hrs of sleep with little interruption. Rick said he slept well, too. We spent the day getting our bearings. We spent some time walking around the resort. The climate and terrain here are a mixture of many memories for us. There are many bushes and flowers we remember from Phoenix, the countryside has elements of Eastern Washington, and there are many Hibiscus at this resort – reminiscent of Hawaii. There is a very large beetle
, similar to a Cicada, in many of the bushes and trees. It chirps and hums all day and night. Not as loud as Arkansas, though.
We drove to the nearby town of Hersonissos. It is a kind of a tourist town but it was fun. One of the reasons we went there was to get some groceries. As we walked up and down the street, past all of the shops, the signs were in Greek and English. However, the “Super Market” was just that, there was no Greek wording. It is funny because some of those “Super Market”s were pretty small and simple. Everything is open air, even most of the restaurants and cafes. We bought a few things, browsed a few shops, and headed back. By the time we fixed dinner and played a game of cribbage, we were tired and were off to bed.
