|For those of you who are not in the know – sapphires are a lot cheaper in Thailand than the UK, because they (along with a few other precious stones) are farmed here and therefore you are not paying for all of that export stuff. I am not actually convinced that ‘farming’ is the correct verb used when finding sparkly things but you know what I mean.
Anyway, a sapphire is what I wanted and a sapphire is what I got – not just any sapphire but a whole whopping 3.5 carat of sapphire in an oval shape. And not only that, but 2 emerald cut diamonds either side of the daddy stone too!
It is completely different from what I had in my mind (apart from it is sapphire and diamonds) but it’s bigger, better and far more sparkly (and dare I admit it, more expensive – even though we are in Thailand!!) and I loooovvvveeeee it! It was also the very first one I tried on and I had to keep going back to it (we still didn’t know the price at this point –we will deal with the credit card bill when we get home!)
Suffice to say, my fiancé is currently having a little lie down with a beer to get over it!! But apparently I am worth it – well actually I made that bit up myself!
Please see attached, for your eyes only (raindrop included to prove we’re in a monsoon!). . . . . . . . . .
