Chatting with an officer in the lodge

We were going to make a two day trip from Lancaster KY to our friendly lodge in Pennsylvania so Charleston, WV (the Capital) was about halfway. It is located along the Kanawha River. The main part of the city is along the banks of the river (the only flat land), the rest of the place is VERY hilly, no one lives on a flat spot.

We stayed at the Elks Lodge very comfortably with electric, water and sewer but they were all on the wrong side of the rig, oh well. The lodge was not open but the officer let us in to chat and have a refreshing drink. He said we really should see the Capital and stay for dinner the next night, so we did.
