Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau .........
Elizabeth and Karen were born there ... We did go by our very first home that we bought, but was disappointed to see that it was empty and had LOTS of weeds visible in the yard-rather sad! It was Karen's request that we make an effort to visit there. We did!
One of my dear friends, Fran, lives in Charleston. We stopped there in 2008 to visit with Fran & Mac, but since then Mac passed away following heart surgery. He was such a wonderful man. In my heart now I know Fran is doing really well - she has a wonderful family close by...great home, friends and a super sister in Massachusetts, etc.
We stayed at the same park, which is quite nice - Campground at St. James Island. - We did some sightseeing, but things had changed so much since I lived there (1959-1962).
It was good to be by the ocean again. I think sometimes I truly miss it...always so mind calming for me. May be a female-thing!
We had such a pleasant surprise ............ Jack, Jeanne's husband from Jasper, Georgia, emailed us and asked how long we were going to be in Charleston. He was coming to visit. We had a wonderful visit with him - spent time together. It made our visit in Charleston even more special. We really appreciated the long drive he took to be with us - it meant so much to the both of us. Took Jack for a tour through downtown - such beautiful buildings & homes. Loved seeing it all. Jack left the day we did.
We left Charleston and headed for Jacksonville. Had appointments set up with my doctors since I have such confidence in them. My Internist is the greatest! I had not had a real checkup in 3 years, since we left Jax for good. He wanted to see me.
It will be fun seeing our old neighborhood and friends there.
Hope everyone is well everywhere. The temperatures have been unbearable. Thank goodness for A/C. Fall has GOT to get here ...next year - the mountains!!
We love you all .....
