Our first trip into the surrounding jungle was to Kubah National Park. It said in the guide book that it's half an hour away. Presumably this doesn't account for 1.5 hours waiting for the bus that never turns up? Eventually we made it and were rewarded with a rainforest all to ourselves - we were the only ones in the huge park.
We had heard that the parks over exaggerate trail times so that unfit people don't get disillusioned. Either these people are lying or we are really unfit. It took us about 20% longer than expected and we were almost running for the last 20 minutes! It wasn't so much a leisurely stroll, taking in the surrounding wildlife, more an army training program (with Amy leading)!
It was all worth it when we reached our destination - a stunning waterfall, cascading over a sheer rock face into surrounding pools. It wasn't as warm as in other places, probably only as hot as a UK swimming pool!
This was Greg's time, like a child in a sweetshop. Amy watched in sheer astonishment as he ran around, yelling like a schoolboy, jumping in the waterfalls, splashing and diving wherever there was a drop of water.
