Awesome Rainbows - One a WEEK!!!!!

Another

Another One!

AAAAhhhhhh…..back to normal ….we had to actually work real hours all last week.... rough.... Dixie, Mike, Marci and Chad (owners and children who work with us, cleaning) all went on a big family reunion cruise. That left me, Bernie and Ann to do everything.... Noah (nice guy - works at America’s Best Value Inn in town that Dixie’s other daughter manages) came to help us clean in the mornings so it wasn’t crazy. We lucked out that the inn wasn’t totally full; apparently Fourth of July week isn’t very busy? I guess people still do family things.

We had to get up early - like 6:30.....man.....and make breakfast for the guests! Dixie has really yummy, but still easy to make recipes; and the guest are always impressed and think it is way difficult! Cool, huh!?! It looks like we work super hard but mainly it is just mixing a few things and making sure it all gets in the oven on time. Bernie’s biggest issue is serving the juice. We usually have 2 or 3 choices and there are 6 people at a table (12 people total is max). So you have to remember quite a few different combination's and he stresses over it…..but he never really makes a mistake.

Most people who come to the Inn are so thrilled with the place they don’t have anything but good to say....but, as always, there are the few who just have to be "special". Bernie is good at checking people in and answering all their questions like “Where is a good place to eat?” “Where should we hike?” “What is the best way to get to so and so?” plus he is chatty so everyone feels comfy and at home.

We were lucky and didn’t have any real peekerheads - just one guy who would not eat eggs just by themselves, only in a mixture (yeah I know).....ok.....it is a bed and Breakfast - what is 99% of breakfast in this country....eggs....so, we had to do special food for him the 3 days he was here.... He was nice about it....not demanding, so we made him different things everyday (if he had been a weenie - it would have been yogurt and granola everyday!).

Like I said Dixie’s dishes are different and they look pretty and fancy (we put a sign in the lobby every evening explaining what the next mornings meal is going to be).....one guest (she was definitely high maintenance) had to have each dish announced....then, would ask what was in it..guess she couldn’t read??

Quite a few of the guests are curious about our lifestyle, so Bernie always gives them the sales pitch. I think he just may have converted a few to our way of thinking... Some, I think, are just surprised everyone like us isn’t “trailer trash”....but real people - just tired of doing the 9 to 5 hell....not weirdos (or at least not at first glance)!! I hope he doesn’t convert too many or we may find it hard to get jobs.

Pictures from beautiful Rainbows we have pretty much every week...always over Powell Point and oh, so beautiful!!!! We have regular hummers here but a week ago we had 3 orange hummers take over the feeder!!! Incredible throat coloring of brilliant orange is what attracted our eyes - then realized the whole bird was orange!!! Finally, the rattlesnake...... Bernie was walking back up home after work.... he squirmed right in front of him... and scared the heck out of him also!!!! Calmed down and followed him as he scurried away to "hide" under a rock!!! Much more "observant" where we walk now!!!!!! Plus, really look when reaching down to the ground for something.... they are all over here!!!!!
