Bill and Jan's Big Adventure travel blog

We have started our trek east to the western PA/eastern OH area to visit family and attend the "Maietta" reunion. We stopped in Welcome, MN (a little town just west of Fairmont) for the night. After having a nice dinner, we decided to retire early since we had a long drive day. About ten o'clock we heard a loud pounding on our door and the owner of the campground was there to tell us that there had been a tornado watch and to get ready to go to the local church if the watch turned to a warning. And of course, it did so we spent about an hour in the church basement while the storm passed. Luckily it bi-passed the area and we were allowed to go back to our RV. We have to commend the campground owner as she visited each unit to let her guests know the weather situation. If you are ever traveling on I90 in Minnesota, we highly recommend the Checkers Welcome Campground as a stop over for the night -- Passport America rates and great people!!!
