Mary & Jean Living the Dream - Summer, 2010 travel blog

On the 23rd we traveled from Niagara Falls, NY through the Canadian Border at Rainbow Bridge and across to Port Huron, MI. We stayed in Smiths Creek, MI for the evening. It was a rough drive. Getting across the Border into Canada was a piece of cake. While traveling towards Port Huron a truck threw up a rock and left a silver-dollar size ding in the windshield. We tried to get it fixed, but it’s too big. When I get home, I’ll have to get a new windshield. It took over 2 hours to cross the border in Port Huron. Not fun!

This morning we drove to Birch Run, MI and are spending 2 nights here. Today after getting settled and doing some much-needed cleaning we went to Frankenmuth. Frankenmuth is a Bavarian-style village known for its Christmas shop. We had a great dinner at the Bavarian Inn and then went shopping at Bronner’s Christmas Village. Cannot believe there can be this many decorations in the world let alone in one shop. At night it was all decorated with Christmas lights. Quite a “Christmas in July” experience.
