The Kimberley Koios' 2010 travel blog

In another show of hospitality Rowena drove up the OAP road with us - which provided us that bit extra safety and sense of security.

The first night in Hunter’s Creek I had trouble sleeping. It could’ve been because of how my hip kept seeking give in the ground, it could’ve been the warning from Alma about the bull, or the King Brown living under their house which Peter called their “neighbour”, it could’ve been the branches in the tree right near us which made a sound like rain when the wind went through them, or it could’ve been the noises I heard which sounded to me like a person walking with sandals. I told Alma about the sounds and she reminded me of all the people buried nearby. She told me to just say to them “It’s alright- I’ve been here before” and that they would leave me alone.

JD: "Here are the things I did:

1. Shoot Me Down, Hunters Creek- after a long road of gravel, we finally arrived in Ardyaloon (or for you white people, One Arm Point!). We went straigt to Jacqui’s parent’s place. It is like a very, VERY, VERY, VERY BIG caravan park.

2. 2. Umm, Is This How You Do It? - after we talked to Peter and Alma(The park owners and Jacqui’s parents), we set up the shelter. It was very hard and took a VERY long time.

3. 1…2…3…4…- that night we slept under the stars. Didn’t get to sleep too quickly ‘cause there was a BULL(and KING BROWN, to a lesser extent) on the loose. It was very UNAWESOME."

JOEL: "We drove from derby to Brom to one arm point. It too three hours."
