The Redbird on Lake Barkley

Lake Barkley from our campsite

We departed today before 7:00 AM and traveled 360 miles to Lake Berkley, KY. We are camped at a US Corps of Engineers campground which cost $12.00 per night utilizing our Golden Age Passport. I shoot for an average campground cost of under $35.00 per night so this park is a positive contributor to maintaining my budget. If you are into boating, this is an excellent park with thousands of acres of water to enjoy and you can dock you boat adjacent to your campsite if you score one of the many waterfront sites.

The park has 50 amp electrical service which we are utilizing to cool the fifth wheel. It was 95 degrees when we arrived with the interior of the trailer being 86 degrees. As this is written the inside temperature is down to 81 degrees and should be at a comfortable level by bedtime.

Since we do not have a boat, our stay will be only one night. Tomorrow we will travel to somewhere in Missouri for our next overnight stop.
