Today was the last day of my vacation so I started working my way back to Austin. On the way I stopped at the Wimberley Glass Works to watch the glass blowers for a while. I drooled over the beautiful glassware but just bought some little “blue moons” for my co-workers.
Tim deJong, Owner/Head Gaffer at Wimberley Glassworks, Inc. was born in Saskatchewan, Canada. He studied ceramics, sculpture and glass at Alfred University in New York. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in glass from Temple University's Tyler School of Art. In 1991, Tim came to Texas on vacation and fell in love with the Texas Hill Country. Within a year of his visit, he had purchased property and opened Wimberley Glassworks just South of the Village of Wimberley. Tim is the sole owner and employs three full time blowers.
