The next morning we woke up and had a chat with our fellow dorm members. Earlier in the night we had been knocked up by a couple of Kiwi guys at about 4.30 am looking for 'the French guy', apparently half of our dorm had been out drinking with them at a bar on the corner who had launched a new beer, and between 6 and 7 it had been free, they had knocked back about 4 pints in half an hour and then carried on so where a little worse for wear. There was me, Ruth, Chadwick and Canadian now living in London, (he has a boyfriend in Germany he met while travelling and is really funny, he has had me and Ruth in stitches most of the day) then there is Chris from Sydney 25 and brother and sister Giuliano 24, and Niki 21, from Near Milan in Italy. We all decided to go to the National Museum which was really good and massive, (Much better than the museums back home and with lots of interactive exhibits) after which we got some lunch and then went to the National Tattoo museum. (Which was little disappointing as I expected it to have more information about native tribal tattoo's and stuff but it was more like a tattoo shop back home but bigger.) WE had met the Kiwi's in the other Museum and they paid us in so I wasn't as annoyed as I would have been if I had paid to get in.
I offered to cook a big pot of Spag Bol up for the 6 of us, it went down very well and the Italians liked it very much. (Which I was really pleased about.) We had a few bottles of wine and got quite drunk. Chris told us of his escape from the Tsunami, he had been swimming and saw the fish swimming towards him but at speed and leaping out of the water as they did. He thought that maybe they had a predator after them and thought it wise to return to the beach. 10 minutes later the water drew back and the wave hit!
We waited up till 12.00 to walk Niki and Giuliano to their car as they were catching the 1.30 am ferry to the south Island. We arranged to meet up with them at the YHA in Kaikoura and spend a few day travelling with them. On they way back from our goodbyes Chad, ever the fool, went a little mad! (Check the photo's out!)
