Left my favorite spot (Valdez) starting the run back home. Stopped for a bite to eat at some nameless lodge and the owner was from New York, the mailman from Minot ND and the only customer from Fort Yates ND. Wonder if there are any native Alaskans in Alaska? So many we have met are all from other places.
Had lunch in Tok. I am so appreciative of the fact that we have no smoking laws in ND. The smoking section was only 3 tables down from us and did it stink! Can't hardly stand to eat when it stinks like that.
Then we tackled the worst road section of the entire trip - 20 miles north of the AK/YT border to Destruction Bay YT. It is a simply horrendous road full of potholes that would swallow your entire front wheel, ruts that will throw you across the road and whoop dee doos that will take you off your pegs. 100 miles of pure hell. And again I had someone that must have borrowed their motor home from their mother-in-law cause they were in some kind of race to keep up with us. Those lights were bouncing higher than a kid on a trampoline. Baffles my why you would beat it up like that unless it wasn't theirs.
Took our Belle Vista cabin again at Cottonwood RV park. What a relaxing evening after getting beat up on those roads. Read a book, took a walk and simply enjoyed Lake Kluane. Beautiful spot to hold over on. And very nice host as well.
