Tuesday, July 6th Helloooooooo Mineeeeey –Sota……Albert Lea to be exact. Southern Minnesota, midstate.
We’re zipping along on the interstate which is much faster than the side roads we had been on. Made our obligatory stop at Cabela’s in Mitchell, South Dakota, both bought some shoes, then continued on for 4.75 hrs without a stop. Here we are in humid country! Yeuch! But now, having seen the news, we are not really that bad. Low 80’s but humid feels like 102.
We have seen an unusual number of Airstream trailers this trip. Not sure why.
Buffalo burgers are traif (not kosher, feh, not good to eat) in my book! I have to say this! They are beautiful animals & should be cherished!
So as we drive along & see scenery or specific sights it seems lines from songs keep coming to mind. Today as we drove across the river…. the Missouri river. I started singing…. “across the wide Missouri”. I asked Allan, did he remember what song/show that line is from? And he answered…. are you ready for this…. South Pacific! I choked on my coffee!
We are now parked RIGHT next to a large corn field. Tall stalks! Kind of neat!
Then of course we are in major mosquito country!!! Can’t leave the door open for more than a few seconds. Wow! are we spoiled!
I am thinking these days, that even though many people travel for months at a time, 4-6 months, or are snow birds, it is not really for us. We are too connected to everyone back in L.A. I am having terrible separation anxiety. In the future, shorter trips will be on the agenda! Unless I change my mind!
Tomorrow we will get an earlier start (we have been bad at ths). We have 300 miles to cover to Milwaukee, Wisconsin! Then there is a month’s worth of laundry, marketing, visiting family, routine visit to Land’s End Inlet’s (this is the only place they have them), haircut, Bailey grooming. Are you thrilled yet? Wish we could find someone to wash the rig. Not as easy as in the west.
We have very short evenings since it gets dark so late, we eat very late.
Nighty night to all…
My thoughts tomorrow will be with our Lovin’ Leveler’s.
Love, Freya & Allan
