Karen after lunch on the shores of the King River

Karen at the King River

Manatuska Glacier

Ok, so staying on the lake with the float planes wasn't such a good idea. Noisy little buggers flying quite late and early. But we survived.

Walked downtown Anchorage for the morning. Nice place to spend some time. However men, be aware of the Alaska Mint and keep your women away from there!!!!! I bought a ring for Karen for our 10th anniversary (read: Karen found a very expensive ring, smiled at me and then had me sign on the bottom line). But it will be a nice reminder of our trip up north.

Then we hiked Thompson Falls before heading out on the Glenn Highway. What a great 200 mile run along the King River. We stopped and had lunch on an overlook and then continued on to the Matanuska Glacier. These glaciers are very impressive and we enjoyed the view.

Then we stretched out like a couple of Kodiak bears on the picnic tables and took a nice long nap in the sun. Needed that after these endless days have me overtired. Had a high heat wave of 64 degrees today! Highest riding temp since we've had since we left the mainland on the 24th. Then we finished up the run to Copper Center. Stay at the Princess Lodge! Beautiful rooms, view and two places to eat. Off to Valdez tomorrow.
