Engagement photos with the dogs went so-so. We got up first thing in the morning because Shawnda was meeting us at 10:00 am. We showered in the campgrounds shower house, got dressed, did our hair and once we left the shower house it started to rain. We hurried back to our camper and shortly thereafter, it started to really rain! But, there was no rescheduling for another day.
Our first location was at the University where there are beautiful stone archways. The rain was still coming down pretty hard but we got out the umbrella’s and made the best of it for the first set of photos. Surprisingly, I think they turned out okay, despite the rain. Once the rain slowed down, we got the dogs out to get some photos with us. Taking pictures with dogs is fun, but quite challenging. By our last location, which was at our campground, we were done. Actually, Rhonda was done and so were the dogs. I sensed it and ended our photo session before things got ugly. By this time, the sun had come out, it was hot and the mosquitoes were eating us alive.
We spent the rest of the day running around before we had to pick up the key for the hall at 3:00 and before everyone else who was supposed to show up, showed up. Roseanne showed up before 3, Rhonda’s parents showed up a couple of hours later and Chris & Nicole showed up a couple hours after them. Rosie stayed in a hotel and Rhonda’s parents and Chris & Nicole stayed beside us in the campground.
So on the note of running around and doing stuff, we had an incident with the ceremony programs that I had made up for the wedding. First off, they are awesome…I do have to say! I made them, and printed a copy, before we left Houston. On Tuesday we took them into Staples in Lloydminster to have them printed and folded. They said no problems to do them in color and we could pick them up before we left for Saskatoon, the following morning. Great! A few hours later, they phone to say that they started copying them and as they got a few done, the quality started to really suck, that they weren’t readable and that they would need to print them in grayscale. Fine, we agreed and thought that would be the end of it. Not what we wanted but what could we do? After 2 more phone calls, they said the quality in the first few was great, and as they printed, it would get worse. We basically had no choice and cancelled our order, saying that we’d be by in the morning to pick up our original copy so we could get it printed somewhere in Saskatoon.
In the morning, when we got there, they broke the news to us saying that they had lost our original copy but swore that they told us about it and that we said it was okay. We did not! We are not sure what happened to the original copy but likely that’s why they weren’t turning out. From what we can figure, they started to copy them, wrecked the original copy somehow and tried to make copies of a copy. It’s the only reason why the quality would suck and get worse with each print. So now stuck without the original, we were forced to find a copy center that could take the program off of my computer, put it on theirs and print them from there. And we did. They were great to work with and had our programs ready within the hour. And again, they turned out awesome and everyone loved them!!
Before heading to the hall to start setting up, Roseanne, Leah, Rhonda & I went to Chili’s for supper. Once at the hall we figured out our layout for the tables, set them up, set up the chairs and pretty much called it a night. Tomorrow, there would be LOTS to do!!
