Northeast USA & Canada travel blog

Portland is the largest city in Maine with a metro population of ~230,000. We drove through part of the city yesterday on our way to and from Freeport but missed the waterfront. Today we explored the waterfront. After lunch at outdoors on the water, we walked down to the seafood market and were amazed at all the types of fish and shellfish they were selling. We decided to buy cooked lobster, fresh scallops and flounder. The grill will definitely get a workout tonight and tomorrow! There were several lobstering tours and harbor tours offered out of Portland, but we decided if we take one of those tours, we wanted to wait until we get to Bar Harbor area.
